Today's Quote--"Being afraid of being alone is like being afraid of the dark--at some point, the lights go out."--Me

Ahhh, tired, but alive, as always. It snowed yesterday, big fat white flakes. Very pretty, very slushy. It's not quite cold enough for it to stay around totally yet. My teachers have been trying to scare me with stories of snow tunnels to get to school...oy. But that's February weather, not December...yeah, lucky me. ;)

Ahh, what to write about, yet another day in the life of this guinea pig? Can't get to People Soft to register...figures...and school email has been down for a bit. Luckily the Registrar emailed me at hotmail. Joy. We'll see if I can manage to register from my host family's computer. The VP and Asian department director of BCA were here for a bit...the Other J. is here until next week, but the VP went home today. Came and talked to us about our impressions of the program. We did a lot of good bull-shitting. Oy. Just when I start thinking like a regular person, someone has to throw the whole guinea pig (achem...Pioneer) thing in my face again. It never ends. "But that's why you decided to go to SUA!" *sigh* Yeah, shut up. I know. *grumble, grumble* If it was easy, I wouldn't be doing it, because I always have to do things the hard way. Grrr. No, but really, I know I'm learning a lot about people and life in general...just not sure what kind of a job I'll be able to do. *sigh* And I really don't miss the beaurocratics and politics. The BCA people visit reminded me of that. It's all so petty. *sigh* And yet so necessary to survive in our over-competitive, money based world. Sometimes, the whole idea makes me feel ill. But that's enough bitching about reality...off into my comfy littly world...

It snowed! Okay...there has to be some better news than that...hmmm. Ummmm....weellllllll.....Ohhh! There's spell check on Blogger now! Yeah! Oh wait, I think it's been there for a while, I just haven't seen it before. Okay...something interesting...100yen shops rule. All kinds of great stuff, for only 100 yen...plus 5% consumption tax. *nose wiggle* Ick. But yes, all kinds of great things...food, drinks, table ware, umbrellas, hats/gloves, paper products, yarn, hair accessories, makeup, garden stuff, storage stuff, All kinds of things that will make great gifts. Except that I just told you they were from the 100 yen store...which is about 90 cents US. Umm...shoot. Well, just remember that the 100 yen store is a great place and forget that I'm buying all of your gifts there. 'K! All righty then.

One good thing about winter...no baseball. Not that I don't like baseball, it's just that there's a high school/University baseball field across the street from my house. And being the studious young men they are, they practice from early in the morning until late at night...and they're pretty loud. But hey, the high school nearly won the Hokkaido championship...nearly. In the final two...maybe they did win...don't really know. But yes, they like to yell a lot, especially on Saturday mornings when I sleep in. Or try to. But since it started snowing...maybe this Saturday It'll be quiet. And the elections are over so that helps too!

Oh yes, the elections were this past Sunday, Nov. 9. Up until then there were all kinds of advertisements for various canidates and parties...by loudspeaker from vans that travel up and down every single road and alley in Sapporo so that you can't get away from them no matter where you go...yes. Annoying. But they didn't bother me too much...What's your opinion on a religiously sponsered political party? Hmmm, all kinds here in Japan. And they've got the nifty Parliment system where the percentage of votes you get gets you a percentange of seats in the house. Well, at least for now they can still elect their leaders. Oy. Did I mention America doesn't look as hot from this side of the ocean? Hmmm, maybe. But Bush looks stupid no matter where you stand...ah ha ha ha. Sorry to my republican friends...but that man...ooooooooo. *nose wiggle* Yes.

Well, now that I've insulted as many people as possible...solution for cold weather straight from the Japanese school girls themselves...Tights/nylons. Yep. Errrm. Well, now that my brain has fled, I think I'm ready to go back to the US. I'm scared, I'm excited, I'm sad, but only 36 days and I'm on a plane...or well...3 planes....for many many hours...3 planes 5 airports...oy, what am I going to do in Tokyo? I think I got a bum deal on that. Switching airports...and with luggage? Maybe not with luggage...but why would they send my luggage elsewhere when they can make me pack it halfway across Tokyo on a shuttle bus likely causing many problems and ruining the on-time schedual of the bus not to mention my back and probably one or two pairs of feet? *shrug* Later...later...oy.

Did you know that I like to use the term "oy"? It comes from the Hebrew "Oy Veh"...essential the same thing. Don't know what....Hey, 'k must leave the room...I think...so later!
