Beep, Beep, Beep--We interrupt today's regularly schedualed programing to bring you this news worthy report--Beep, Beep, Beep
Today's Quote--"Rockin' and a Rollin', Rockin' and a Reelin'."--"Shaken, not stirred."--"The reports of my death by drowning have been greatly exaggerated."--YAHHHHH! Earthquake quotes...from me.
mou yadda yo! Icky nasty earthquake, wake me up at 4:50 this morning...and then, just when I fall asleep, calm myself down and assume the worst is over, bowl me over again at 6:10...nasty Tsunami! Apparently here in Sapporo it registered about a 4.0, but it felt a lot worse, especially on the second floor. No one died, that I know of, but it was quite the mover...So, the story goes, an earthquake just off the coast of Hokkaido hit at probably 4:45 this morning...it created a 7 foot tidal wave (AKA Tsunami) and sent out shock waves...of course. The Tsunami hit the Eastern coast of Hokkaido and the North Eastern Coast of Honshu. The original earthquake was something like 8.0 followed later by a 7.5 which would be the main nasty aftershock. By the time the earthquake hit me, it was down to 4.0, but it was unpleasent, needless to say. Only two things fell over in my room, but I was sure for the minute or so it lasted that this was it! Ack. SO there have been little aftershocks that have kept me swaying, and the subway was a madhouse. But other than that...all quite on the western front. I'm currently a little too scattered to report everything...and I'll get back to you about the reality of life in Japan at another time. Oh yes, and it's been 13 days now, without meeting my host father. Hee hee. Anyway, going to try and glean some information off of English sites, since the Japanese news only had pictures.
Back to you Dan...
