Today's Quote--"A civilized society is one that exhibits the five qualities of truth, beauty, adventure, art and peace."--Alfred North Whitehead
Now let's take a look at the "civilized society" I live in...Truth? Nope. Beauty?...occasionally. Adventure?...Mmmmm, depends on your notion of adventure...acceptence and encouragement of new views? No. Art?...When Broadway strikes, is there any art left? Peace?....Well, what do you think? Uh, yeah. That'd be a no. Right, so now that I have emperically determined I live in a savage society with no real morals or goals, on to the hockey game!
LOL...yes, the game was clean (no blood anyway), and the fans screamed for fights and bloodshed. If only we could contain those screams to the hockey arena. Right....Nothing like witnessing the anamality of the human race right close up. Truthfully, I enjoyed the game. It was good, and nice to be off campus. People are scary though. Why is my Soka bubble so much safer? Why? 'Cause I don't like war. And in my Soka bubble, that's okay. Nobody thinks you're anti-American for thinking we shouldn't be doing this war thing (unless you are anti-American...then we all respect that). Will this Soka bubble expand outward someday? I hope that within it, we can learn to deal with all perspectives (Whew!~that's the hardest to do! Especially for me!) and become people who can listen and reply responsibly. And I want the notion that that is what a civilized person is to grow and consume the entirity of the world. Along with good editions of spell check. (inside joke)
War is angrifying. But, we still need sports. Music. Art. Laughter. Good times. As human beings, we need to remember there is hope. That when all this insane killing is over, there will still be something worth having, humanity. Joy. Goodness. Laughter. I cannot forget this fact. Oh yes...and I'm feeling better now. ;) Midol is a good thing!
Anyway...I'm going to do my final thoughts on Scotland tonight (I Promise!) But a little later. Still need to look at homework! ;~)
